About

I make art for busy people, especially parents like me, so they can give themselves permission to slow down and enjoy the life that's already happening.

I’m Rachael Presky, a contemporary expressive painter living in South Somerset, UK. My paintings are a representation of my messy, imperfect and colourful life. With two small children, two cockapoos and a super Cinematographer husband, we moved to the Somerset countryside in Feb 2025. My husband’s job needs frequent travel so I end up being the ‘default parent’ and by chance, it’s always in the school holidays. As with many other mums, I also have the mental load of remembering what they need for school each day, have they eaten vegetables, do their clothes still fit, etc! I quite often end up overwhelmed with everything that needs doing and all the needs of everyone else. One way I combat the overwhelm is to remind myself to take a step back and slow down. For me painting colourful, bright and messy paintings gives me that outlet. I try to depict how I feel in these snatched, beautiful moments; from the awe of a mountain, the colour and beauty of a flower, a moment in time or the perfect light.

I’m hoping my artwork can be a reminder that it’s ok to live a messy, imperfect and colourful life. To take a step back and slow down, enjoy that moment, take in the bigger picture and try to enjoy the small things that bring you joy! I will be there trying with you!
